When mould and flood damage shut our indoor stadium, families were left with nowhere to play. Inland Taipan Social Basketball is a community answer — Saturday mornings at the rainbow court, run by parents, for kids who just want a game.

Why we exist
Our town lost indoor hoops. Our kids didn’t.
Broken Hill’s basketball stadium has been out of action after mould and flood damage. Every week without it, more kids miss out on exercise, mateship, and something to look forward to.
This club is deliberately free to register — we’re not here to make money off families. We’re here so primary kids, teens, and everyone in between can lace up, laugh, and compete while the big venues get fixed.
How it works
Teams from 5 players
Register with at least 5 players (up to 8 on the roster). We need 5 on court to start a game — Lone Wolves fill short squads.
Lone Wolves
Short a few? We assign registered Lone Wolves to your squad. Teams that receive assigned Lone Wolves must provide them a matching team shirt — same as your own players.
Byes when needed
If an age group has an odd number of teams, some rounds will include a bye. We'll publish the draw so everyone knows in advance.
Matching shirts
Each team picks a colour at registration. Host teams kit up assigned players the same way.
Mixed — boys & girls
Mixed competition — boys and girls play together in every division. Same teams, same court, same fun.
Canteen
We run a sausage sizzle and sell drinks on game days. All money goes toward club overheads — the comp stays free to register.
Parent helpers
Each game, one parent (or guardian) from one team assists the referee, and one parent from the other team keeps score. The club will brief volunteers on the day — no experience needed.
Weather & heat
Outdoor games may be cancelled or shortened for unsafe weather — including rain, storms, and extreme heat. We'll call it by 7:30 AM on game day when we can.
Slip, slop, slap
Slip, slop, slap — we play outdoors. Hats and sunglasses are encouraged; please make sure they fit securely so nothing ends up on the court as a trip hazard.
Pick your division
Divisions: 10 and under, 14 and under, and Under 18s (age checked on 2026-10-31). Adults (18+) coach, ref, score, and run canteen — they do not register as players.

Primary ages — 10 and under. Mixed skill welcome; we keep it fun and moving.
